The first fire...

With the fall chill in the air, we had our first fire of the season.

Toasty!

Sending a big warm Aire Hug to all our pals to the east.

I'm gonna bite that Super Sandy in the butt.

It's raining Apples and Pears!

The weather has been a bit erratic.
It rains...it shines...it hails...mostly it rains.
This was the scene at the Hood River, Oregon Harvest Fest. Not too festive, but we did come home with 65 pounds of apples and pears!

This is my personal stash.

I'm starting with a nice ripe Bartlett Pear.

Mom wants to make these mini Caramel Apples, that she saw in a magazine. You scoop an apple with a melon baller, put a twig in it, dip it in caramel and roll it in nuts and chocolate.
Bite Sized Heaven!!

Stanzie says, "Thanks for saving the red pear for me!"

Happy Harvest!

Kommissar Rex

One night in Krakow, Poland, when we tired of CNBC and BBC news, the only programs in English....we discovered an Austrian show dubbed in Polish, about a police dog named Rex. It was cute,  clever and simple, SO we could follow the story without the English dialog.

On our return home, we have discovered episodes on You Tube and other sites for free, with English subtitles. Now we can watch Rex at home!

You gotta love a dog that can steal a ham roll and solve crimes!  Maybe you will get a kick out of the show too. Check out the 1 minute clip from an episode.

Kommissar RexInspector Rex ) is a popular Austrian-made police television drama which aired from 1994 to 2004. In 2007 a new series was released (Season 11), under Austrian-Italian production. From February 18, 2008, the 12th season was shot in Rome.
The original series is set in Vienna and focuses on the three-man staff of an office of the Austrian Criminal Police - specifically a Mordkommission, or Murder Commission. In addition to the three policemen, the office is staffed by a German Shepherd Dog, called Rex who functions variously as a cadaver dog, a sniffer dog (for both contraband and narcotics) and as another pair of eyes and ears for his team.

Rex is a highly intelligent German Shepherd Police Dog, who is employed by the Austrian Police Force in the Murder Squad in Vienna, Austria.

Rex lives with his handler, Inspector Richard Moser and goes to work every day with Moser and his colleagues in the Homicide Division.

Moser and Rex have many adventures, each one utilizing the natural canine skills which Rex is highly adept at carrying out as he is an extraordinarily intelligent dog.

Pumpkin Friday

This is the month for all things PUMPKIN!
We have been carving. Mom made this for Christmas Tree Grandma.

Then, we eat cooked pumpkin chunks from the carvings.

Stanzie likes to eat in bed, now that she has a fancy new bed.

Big Bed, Big Cookies

The peeps went to Costco and bought
 A new 'Stanzie Bed'

....and a 15 pound box of Milkbones!

"Stanzie, you are getting crumbs all over your new bed!"

Mom says, that no doggie should drag this bed out into the yard and tear it up.

What? Who does that?

Squirrel lessons from Stanzie

Sunday, I took my brother Wyatt to look for squirrels.
(Notice the goofy grin)

The poor chap is not the sharpest tool in the shed....

"Wyatt, that is a pine cone...not a squirrel!"

I have to be patient with him...he gets excited over every falling leaf.

Wyatt! "Look over here...now there is a Squirrel!"

I still have hope for him....WYATT! "That's a brown paper bag..good grief!"

Boo Hoo

Things are getting weird around here.
(Why do BBQ Ribs sound good right now?)

Is there something on my head?

Really....IS THERE SOMETHING ON MY HEAD?

Stanzie says, "OH Dear, I have one too"

Very Funny.....NOT!

Thank dog, this holiday is only once a year.

Poland to Prague...the final chapter.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about Poland. I guess in my mind, it was just a place we would pass through on our way to a more exciting Prague. Much to my surprise, I felt at home here. Pastoral views, cheerful homes and vibrant people.

We checked into our hotel, in Krakow.

It rained...no wonder I felt at home!

We toured....

We ate sweets...

and we shopped.

Our final stop, Prague
More Music and beer :D

More Touring and people watching.

More Culture and laughs.
The National Marionette Theatre performs Don Giovanni

More Architecture and picture taking!

More Foolishness!
Flat George declares his love for Flat Stanzie, by putting a pad lock on the bridge and throwing the key in the river!

We spy this wheelbarrow and are reminded that it's time to go home
 AND GET BACK TO WORK!

Now, back to our regular programming.
Thanks for tagging along!
