Very Variegated Flower Friday

Camellia 'Nuccios Pearl'
Welcome to Arty's Flower Friday!
Today, we are barking about variegation.
Pieris 'Flaming Silver'
"I'm Variegated too!"
(...and why are we at the Mental Center?..BOL)
Azalea 'Silver Flame'
"How do plants become variegated you ask?"
Variegation is usually the result of cell mutation and can be genetic or occur randomly.
If genetic, the color change is stable and it's easier to propagate new shoots and get the same result.
A random mutation can also result in variegation. Mutations can also be propagated, but sometimes they don't take or result in a weaker plant. Variegated plants are usually smaller than their non variegated relatives, which makes them ideal for small spaces. Some varieties thrive in shade too, due to the lack of chlorophyll in the leaves.

Phlox 'Candy Stripe'
A trip to any nursery today and you will see dozens and dozens of wildly popular variegated plants!
'Variegated Dog on a Variegated Table'
Now, back to our regular programing.

3 x's the KONG!

Whaddid we get?!?

Oooooo Kong Classic x 3
What a grand idea to have 3.
One for now, one with frozen treats in the freezer for later, one in the dishwasher!
But wait...there are 2 of us.
Okay, one for Wyatt, one for Tegan and one for a friend!
That works for us!
What are we going to put in it?
Let's try cut up cooked chicken, peanut butter, kibble and blueberries.
...And on the days when we are watching our waistlines...carrots and apples!
OMD, that's a treat that can't be beat!
I gotta hold this thing down and get every drop out of there.
It sure makes Tegan's tail wag and she is a persistent little terrier.
She figured out if you bang it around, sometimes the food just falls out the hole!

Thanks Chewy.com and Kong
Can't wait to explore more filler options.....Nom Nom Nom!
